What is EHS, and Could You Have it Too?
Electromagnetic hypersensitivity, also referred to as EHS, is recognized as a disabling condition by the World Health Organization. Sweden allows for people suffering from EHS to receive social security.
Sufferers of EHS definitely link their symptoms to the electromagnetic fog we live in as a result of cell phones, wifi, microwaves, and more. People with EHS claim that Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs) cause headaches, tinnitus (ringing of the ears), and low energy. Many fear it also causes disorders in the electrical charges of cells, over-acidity and other damage to our cells, which in turn potentially results in other illnesses and reduced cellular regeneration.Sufferers of #EHS link their #symptoms to the electromagnetic fog we live in. A study conducted in 2005 by the World Health Organization (WHO) concluded that:
“EHS is characterized by a variety of non-specific symptoms that differ from individual to individual. The symptoms are certainly real and can vary widely in their severity. Whatever its cause, EHS can be a disabling problem for the affected individual. EHS has no clear diagnostic criteria and there is no scientific basis to link EHS symptoms to EMF exposure. Further, EHS is not a medical diagnosis, nor is it clear that it represents a single medical problem.”
So while EHS is recognized, EMF exposure being the cause of EHS is disputed. So let’s take a look at some facts.
Electromagnetic vs. Magnetic Fields
Prior to 1880 our exposure to electromagnetic and magnetic frequencies were limited to those in nature:
- The primary electromagnetic source was the sun.
- The primary magnetic source was the earth.
People lived closer to the land, literally, with no skyscrapers or cement basements to block the natural magnetic energy. Since 1880, we have gone from the very beginnings of radio wave exposure to the lives we live today.
As depicted above, Electro-Magnetic Frequencies (EMF), from the use of our modern conveniences, are bombarding our bodies continually. However, our bodies need a “static”, single polarity magnetic field to be healthy. This type of field is provided by the Earth.
What does this mean?
Many say it means nothing, that we can handle it. EMF is divided into non-ionizing and ionizing radiation, and if the frequency is ionizing, such as x-rays, then preventative care is taken around them. Non-ionizing is called safe by most government and industrial standards.
People who are concerned about EMFs and who claim to have EHS tell mostly anecdotal stories, and if you check snopes.com, the stories of microwave ovens causing human health problems are entirely refuted.
Does that mean it’s not true? Maybe, maybe not.Could #EHS sufferers be the canary in the coal mine of modern life? #health #wellness Click To Tweet
Have you heard of the canary in the coal mine? Prior to modern times, canary birds were brought into coal mines because they are far more sensitive to the odorless and lethal gases, methane and carbon monoxide. If the canary dies, the humans around it know they need to get out quickly. As WiseGeek.com says, “it was a short but meaningful life.”
People who claim to suffer EHS wonder if they are the canary of the electromagnetic world in which we live. This short video gives the story of two people who claim to suffer from EHS, and what they do about it, along with other experts discussing if it really is linked to EMFs. Note: In this video they refer to EHS as EMH, emphasizing Electro Magnetic Hypersensitivity instead of Electromagnetic Hyper Sensitivity.
We live in a world of increased electromagnetic fields and farther away from natural magnetic fields.
But, life in the modern world is pretty sweet. We enjoy instant communication with loved ones, non-stop entertainment availability, air travel, and much more.
Rather than give up the modern world, you could potentially counteract the undue influences of EMF by getting more natural magnetic energy. A few ways to do this are:
- Spend more time in nature.
- Be barefoot.
- Walk on the grass, put your feet in the ocean.
- Use properly designed magnetic therapy products whenever possible.**
By the way, we don’t recommend avoiding the sun to reduce your electromagnetic field exposure. Vitamin D deficiency is another side effect of our modern age. Click here for our article.
It’s up to you.
What do you believe? We are told by the authorities that EMFs are safe, to not worry. The disbelievers of that claim say, “follow the money.” They point out that for the authorities to admit EMFs are not as safe would cause panic and a potential disruption to our economy. It would not be the first time something is denied and later proven true.#MagneticTherapy may be the reconciliation between #EMF fear and modern #convenience. Click To Tweet
Magnetic therapy may be the reconciliation between the two beliefs:
- Live your life in our modified world—we do, and we love it.
- At the same time do all you can to give your body what it really needs to thrive: sleep, hydration, movement, nutrition, and detoxification.

**One aspect of properly designed magnetic therapy products places the the North (-) polarity of strong therapeutic magnets to the body. All aVivoPur™ products use our Pur North technology, incorporating all aspects. Options we recommend for use as a potential equalizer to EMF bombardment include:
- Since the body is in healing mode while you sleep, the aVivoPur™ Premier Magnetic Mattress Pad can provide this magnetic field for 8 hours while you sleep.
- Chair Seat options for work and while sitting in your car or at home are also excellent choices.
- High Powered Insoles, worn in your shoes, provide excellent relief of foot pain but also may influence the health of the whole body through the acupuncture points on the sole of the foot.
